  • Would you like to know all about Newbiggin Hall? Let our Reception guides tell you.....!

    Tue 20 May 2025

Last week our Early Years children went on a local walk to find out all about Newbiggin Hall. Then they came back to school and discussed everything they had seen. Click the link below to watch a video which showcases Reception's brilliant Oracy skills as they present their findings.

  • VE day

    Fri 09 May 2025

VE Day marks the end of World War II in Europe on May 8, 1945, when people across the UK celebrated peace after years of conflict. We celebrated VE Day 2025 with a special assembly, period costume dress-up, and a fun street party lunch! In our assembly, pupils learned about the importance of this day and the bravery of those who lived through the war. We enjoyed singing songs together, dressing up in red, white and blue and sharing lunch together, just like the street parties held 80 years ago! Click the link below to watch a video showing some of the best bits of the day!

Thank you to everyone who suggested such brilliant names. Here are the chosen names for each of our 11 feathered friends....

  • Reception Ducklings

    Fri 02 May 2025

Early Years have been hatching ducklings! We received eggs in an incubator and have cared for them soooo well that we now have 11 ducklings!

Sadly, we now have 11 ducklings without names! We would like your help!

Here are our 11 ducklings - Can you think of any great names?

If you have any good suggestions, write the number of the duckling and your chosen name and place it in the box provided in your classroom. Reception will then look through all of the names and decide on a name for each one of our feathered friends.

  • Easter assembly

    Fri 11 Apr 2025

We have enjoyed a lovely Easter assembly this morning with the vicar from St. Wilfred's - Reverend Ruth. She reminded us of the Easter story and told us how Christians celebrate. Those of us who had made Easter bonnets wore them for the assembly and we enjoyed a performance by Year 5 of 'Hot Cross Buns' on their recorders. Well done Year 5!

  • Easter Competitions

    Fri 11 Apr 2025

We have rolled out the winners of the most egg-citing competitions of the year! Our Easter egg, Easter bonnet and Spring colouring winners have been decided! Well done to everyone who entered - your imaginative contributions have really demonstrated how creative you all are!

  • Eat Smart food waste project

    Wed 02 Apr 2025

Now our 6 week 'Eat Smart' project has come to an end, Ruby (Year 6) has kindly given us a detailed evaluation of the findings of both audits.

In Audit 1, the most food wasted out of all of the bins was Year 5 and Year 6 lunchtime with 23 kilograms of waste. That means if every child wasted an equal amount of food, they would have wasted 0.55kg.

In Audit 2 the most amount of food waste came from the kitchen with 24kg. Most of that was salad. This week there was quite a large reduction. The total amount of food wasted in week 2 was 77kg - that’s equivalent to 292 meals! But, when compared to Audit 1, it is 16kg less food waste which is the equivalent weight to 1 Reception child in the bin! The money saved this week was £128. If we kept saving that much all year we would have saved £5,000!

The whole school action plan is pictured - we will all need to work together to achieve our next steps.

Feel free to wear Black and White again to celebrate the NUFC Carabao Cup Winners Parade!

  • Hinduism assembly

    Mon 24 Mar 2025

On Monday 24th March, we were visited by a member of the Hindu community - Kirtida Richardson. Kirtida introduced us to some of their gods (Krishnan and Lakshmi) and the great god, Indra. Kirtida talked about how Hindus regard cows as sacred animals and she sang some calming meditative music, whilst playing the pakhavaj (a drum). The children enjoyed hearing about her way of life and they really enjoyed the feelings of calmness and peace that she brought to them.
