Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)

The Government requires all Local Authorities to publish information about the services and support available for children and young people aged 0-25 with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

This information is called the Local Offer.

At Cheviot Primary School, we are committed to the full inclusion of all pupils in every aspect of school life. We recognise that every child is unique and may need different types of support to help them learn, achieve, and thrive.

All staff follow Newcastle's SEND Descriptors of Need and Universal Available Provision guidance. These Local Authority documents explain the support that should be available in all mainstream schools across Newcastle for children and young people with SEND.

Through this guidance, we ensure that pupils receive the appropriate support, reasonable adjustments, and inclusive opportunities they need to be successful in school.

Concerns or complaints 

If you have any concerns about your child’s SEND progress or provision we would urge you to come into school and discuss matters further with your child’s class teacher or the our

SENDCO, Ms. Thompson, by email jane.thompson@smartacademies.net or phone on 0191 2869324.

Alternatively,  Mr Gallon, Mrs Sands, Mrs Waugh or Mrs Mullin are also  available to help. Although we would always hope to resolve any issues or concerns informally by working in partnership with parents, school complaints procedures are in place.
