  • World of Possibilities Visitors

    Fri 27 Feb 2026

This week we have enjoyed two assemblies in which our visitors talk to us about their current job. As always our children asked brilliant questions such as ‘what skills are necessary to do your job?’ and ‘what is the funniest thing that’s happened to you while you were at work?’

Our first assembly was with Daryl and Lee from Newcastle Building Society and the second was with Anna, Hana and Charlie who work for a building company and as town planners. They also led a workshop with our Year 6 class in which they were asked to pretend they were a small construction company designing and building housing estates.

  • Newcastle Eagles

    Wed 25 Feb 2026

This afternoon we were fortunate to welcome four players from the Newcastle Eagles, who spent the entire afternoon working with our Year 5 and 6 pupils. They began by introducing themselves and sharing where they were from, which immediately had the children hooked – especially as they were all desperate to find out exactly how tall each player was! The classes were then split into three groups and rotated around a carousel of activities. In the hall, pupils tested their reaction speed against their peers before taking part in a fast-paced shooting relay, focusing carefully on controlled dribbling and accurate shooting. In the classroom sessions, the players led thoughtful discussions around healthy eating, exploring food groups, sugar content in everyday snacks and what we should be mindful of in our diets. They also spoke openly about mental wellbeing, sharing practical ways to look after our mental health and emphasising the importance of good-quality sleep. It was an inspiring, energetic and informative afternoon that balanced physical challenge with valuable life lessons.

  • No Outsiders

    Fri 13 Feb 2026

We have now begun our 'No Outsiders' programme and will focus on one book each half term as part of our class assemblies. No Outsiders promotes our British Values of democracy, rule of law, mutual respect, tolerance and individual liberty, and we have been looking at these values every Monday in our whole school assemblies. The books we share in classes look at the importance of inclusion and belonging, and celebrate our uniqueness and how special we all are. For more information on this, please look at the Curriculum section of our website, where you will soon also be able to see a list of the books we are looking at in our classes. As always, feel free to catch a member of staff if you'd like more information on this. Mrs Sands is our No Outsiders lead.

  • Goats came to School!

    Wed 11 Feb 2026

Early Years had some goat visitors, today. One of our stories this half term has been 'Three Billy Goat's Gruff'. We have shared the story, acted out the story. Reception has also used different construction materials, to build their own bridges for the goats to cross. We looked at the bridges within our community and talked about what things cross them. To add to the excitement of the story, we invited some goats in from Stony Pastures. We got to, feed the goats, including a ginger biscuit. After that, we brushed the goats, to make them all nice and shiny. Our morning was wonderful

  • Safer Internet Day

    Tue 10 Feb 2026

This week, the children took part in Safer Internet Day 2026, with this year’s theme focusing on the safe and responsible use of Artificial Intelligence (AI). Throughout the day, children across the school took part in a range of age-appropriate activities designed to help them understand what AI is, how it can be helpful, and why it is important to make smart and safe choices online. From exploring voice assistant devices in the younger year groups to discussion-based activities and story creation in Key Stage 2, pupils were encouraged to think critically, ask questions, and understand the importance of kindness, privacy, and seeking help from a trusted adult when using technology. Safer Internet Day was a valuable opportunity for us to reinforce key online safety messages and support children in becoming confident and responsible digital citizens.

  • Red Sky CPR and defibrillator training

    Tue 10 Feb 2026

On Tuesday this week all of our pupils in Reception up to Year 6 took part in workshops with this local heart charity. We found out how the charity began, how to use a defibrillator and how to carry out CPR. You can find out more about this charity by visiting their website. In a couple of weeks we will be fundraising for the work of the charity by taking part in a sponsored event during our PE lessons. More information about this is coming soon!

  • Net Zero Event

    Mon 09 Feb 2026

Six children from our Eco Council attended the Net Zero Event at the Civic Centre on Thursday 5th February and had a fantastic day exploring the exciting initiatives taking place across Newcastle City Council to help tackle climate change. They took part in a range of hands-on activities, learning about renewable energy and discovering how energy is generated through solar panels and wind turbines. The Eco Council came away buzzing with ideas for how we can make positive changes in school, with plenty of plans already taking shape. Mrs Waite also made valuable links on the day and has planned a variety of workshops and sessions for all ages across the school with the different groups and companies who attended the event. Keep an eye out for more eco-friendly events coming soon.
