  On Thursday 5th March we will be participating in World Book Day once again. This year our whole school theme will be the 'Little Men and Little Miss' books.   On Tuesday 10th February we will welcome Sergio from Red Sky Foundation. He will tell us all about the work they do as a local heart charity and then we will all receive training on CPR and using defibrillators. 

  

• Key Stage 2 workshops with Primary Enterprise World.

  What an amazing week Key Stage 2 have had with this organisation!

  In the morning session Year 3 learned all about budgeting, spending, and profit by taking on the exciting challenge of building a house with a budget of £150,000.

  In the afternoon, the focus shifted to advertising as the children worked on promoting their own product for a local café. They explored how to make their ideas stand out, practiced their pitches, and confidently presented them to the class for a final vote.

  It was a fantastic day full of creativity, teamwork, and real-world learning!

  The Year 4 children began by learning how cities are built and took on the role of city planners, designing their own cities in their books. They were introduced to six different families hoping to live in an urban area and worked in teams during an estate agent game to match each family with a suitable house and decide on realistic prices. The workshop also explored the advantages and disadvantages of city living through interactive games such as Budgeteer, a board game that helped them understand the cost of living. In the afternoon, the focus shifted to social responsibility as each table planned a business idea for a school fair to raise money for a homeless shelter, presenting their ideas to the class and voting for the most effective proposal. 

  In the morning Year 5 explored different job roles, the skills needed for them, and key items and landmarks from across the UK. In the afternoon, they learned how businesses have a responsibility to protect the environment before running their own bracelet-making companies. Working in small teams, pupils were given a £60 investment to buy materials, make products and sell them to buyers, with the challenge of making as much money as possible by the end. Changing prices meant they had to adapt, negotiate and think carefully about profit, making it a brilliant real-life learning experience.

  Year 6 looked at the Economic growth of 6 different countries and how to plan a holiday on a budget for each of those countries. We then learned the importance of team work in a Global Trade Game, where each team had a simple business plan. The aim of the game was to import and Export  goods to expand their business and make the most money. After lunch each group were given a small business which they had to expand and create an advert for.

  

• Cricket coaching

  We are delighted to tell you that each Tuesday of Spring term all children in Reception - Year 6 will be receiving cricket coaching from Northumberland Cricket Board.
