Science
Science is the process of learning about the natural world through observation and experimentation.
What do children learn about?
Children are introduced to foundational science concepts, which are broken up into three strands; Biology (living things and their habitats), Chemistry (materials) and Physics (physical processes).
How is it taught?
At Cheviot we aim to increase children’s knowledge and understanding of the world. We ensure scientific skills and concepts are developed through a process of enquiry and observation.
We aim to develop the natural curiosity of our children, the confidence to question a process or theory, a respect for living organisms and the environment. We also provide opportunities for the children to critically evaluate the evidence presented to them or gathered through their own enquiries.
Where possible, we provide practical, hands-on experiences, to enthuse, engage and excite our learners!
