R.E is not about promoting any one belief, but about helping children understand the diverse ways people find meaning and live their lives.
What do children learn about?
•Major world religions (e.g. Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, Judaism, Buddhism, Sikhism)
•Other worldviews, including non-religious beliefs like Humanism
•Religious stories, festivals, places of worship, symbols, and rituals
•Moral and philosophical questions (e.g. What is right and wrong? Why do people pray? What happens when we die?)
•Diversity and similarities within and across religions
•How beliefs affect people’s actions, choices, and communities
How is RE taught?
RE is often taught through stories, discussions, art, music, drama, visits to places of worship, and talking to visitors from different faiths.
