Our Reception and Year 5 children have been enjoying using Story Sacks as part of our reading for pleasure activities. Each story sack contains a book along with props and resources linked to the story. The children work in pairs, with our Year 5 pupils supporting the younger Reception children as they explore the story together. They use the props to retell events, act out characters and talk about what is happening in the book. This shared experience helps to build confidence, develop language and communication skills and most importantly encourages a love of reading. By making stories interactive and fun, the children are able to experience the joy and excitement that books can bring.
