We were delighted to welcome Jeff Rich, former drummer of Status Quo, for an exciting and interactive drumming workshop! Jeff began by sharing stories from his musical career and his passion for drumming before taking us on a fascinating journey through the history of drums, exploring how they have evolved both in appearance and musical style. Children had the opportunity to try a variety of drums, including a military drum and a Nigerian talking drum, while the rest of the audience enthusiastically copied rhythms and clapped along. We were then treated to an incredible performance on a full drum kit, showcasing Jeff’s impressive improvisation skills. To finish, KS1 joined us for a fantastic finale, where we all became one big percussion band, playing together alongside Jeff. It was a wonderful experience filled with rhythm, energy and musical inspiration!
