History

History is the study of change over time. We examine past events to see how they have influenced the present.

What do children learn about?
Key events and people from British history, including significant monarchs, explorers, and leaders
The development of Britain from ancient times to the modern day
Ancient civilisations such as the Egyptians, Greeks, and Romans
World history topics such as World War II
Historical enquiry skills – asking questions, using evidence, and comparing sources
Chronology – understanding timelines and how events are connected
The impact of historical events on life today
How is History taught?
History is taught through stories, artefacts, drama, role-play, visits, visitors, timelines, and visual sources such as paintings, documents, and photographs. Children investigate the past using a range of sources, develop their own interpretations, and take part in engaging activities that bring history to life.
