Computing

Computing is about how we use technology to solve problems, create digital products and understand information.

What do children learn about?

Writing and understanding computer code (coding)
Staying safe online and using the internet responsibly
Creating spreadsheets to organise and present data
 Typing and using email correctly
Collecting and sorting information using databases
Creating pictures, animations, and music using digital tools
 Designing games, blogs, and presentations
 Understanding how computer networks work
Learning how computers store and process data

How is Computing taught?

Computing is taught using a clear and practical approach. Children build their knowledge each year, starting with simple skills like clicking, dragging, typing and creating digital art. Each topic is broken down into small steps so children can practice and gain confidence. Children learn how to stay safe online and use technology in a sensible and respectful way. We use a range of programmes that are age-appropriate and engaging. The goal is to make sure all children enjoy using technology and understand how it works in the real world.
