Cheviot is a fully inclusive school

At Cheviot, we are proud to be an inclusive, caring, and forward-thinking school at the heart of our local community.

We believe every child deserves the opportunity to learn, grow, and succeed. Children's overall development is central to everything we do, and we provide a wide range of experiences and opportunities to help them build confidence, achieve success, and prepare for their future education.

As part of SMART Multi Academy Trust, we work closely with SEND professionals across the Trust. This allows us to share expertise, resources, and best practice to support children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

When additional support is needed, we work in partnership with a range of external agencies and professionals, including:

• Health services
• The Local Authority
• Social care services
• Specialist voluntary organisations

These partnerships help us ensure that children receive the right support at the right time.

Whilst we place great importance on developing English, numeracy, and other core skills, we are equally committed to providing a broad and balanced curriculum. Through high-quality learning experiences and a rich, engaging curriculum, children develop academically, socially, emotionally, morally, and culturally.

At Cheviot, staff, pupils, governors, and families work together to create a strong school community where everyone is encouraged to achieve their best. We are proud to live by our school motto:

All staff follow Newcastle's SEND Descriptors of Need and Universal Available Provision guidance. These Local Authority documents outline the support and provision that should be available in mainstream schools across Newcastle for children and young people with SEND.

By following this guidance, we ensure that children receive inclusive support, appropriate adjustments, and equal opportunities to thrive both academically and personally.
